Cape May has been home to Snow’s since 1990. A 90-year old brand that started in Maine, the Snow’s plant produces shelf-stable clam products for Bumble Bee Seafoods. Although our canned clams, clam juice, clam sauces and chowders are distributed nationwide, both our location and involvement are close to the fisheries resource upon which we depend. Our clams come from the federally-managed Atlantic ocean quahog (Arctica islandica) fishery, regarded as one of the most innovatively managed sustainable fisheries in the US. Our shelf-stable seafood is unique to the local food movement in the region. Few canned seafood is processed within a footprint as small as ours. The fishermen and fleet of seven boats land our ocean quahog shellstock in Atlantic City and Point Pleasant. Clam shucking operations in Port Norris and our multi-line cannery in Cape May all support hundreds of jobs in our region. Snow’s clam products are wild-caught, product of the USA, shelf-stable seafood from the Philadelphia region.
